Langston, Day Day, Julian The Ranger$, a high-spirited triple-threat group t formed in the spring of 2009 in the parking lot of a Taco Bell restaurant in Los Angeles, CA. Originally started as a dance group and known as the Go-Go Power Rangers, front man and founder, Julian Goins, was passionate about forming an all male dance crew that could battle other similar groups for fun.
However, the group’s popularity grew and the GGPR’s gathered together after school to dance in parking lots of high schools and quickly became most popular by posting their self-filmed and edited “Jerk” dance videos on You Tube Twitter and MySpace. The three teenage male crew members never thought they would gain over 800,000 followers in such a short amount of time. As the “Jerkin” movement swept the streets of Southern California, and continuous postings of their videos grew and dance battles at local venues expanded, the GGPR’s quickly became the#1 Jerk crew in Southern California. However, dancing alone couldn’t contain this talented crew, and The GGPR’s evolved into a triple-threat hip hop group and renamed themselves, The Ranger$. The three members: Day Day 16, Julian 17 and Langston 16, were all born and raised in Los Angeles and all credit the late and great Michael Jackson as well as singing and dance sensation, Chris Brown as their inspiration and motivation.
The Jerk movement has become a dance phenomenon that not only consist of unique leg work to a fresh sound of music, but it incorporates a lifestyle that features skinny jeans, bright energetic colors, and brings individuality back to the table that exceeds the typical “trendy movement,” With two Albums “Jerkin is a Habit and The Take Over” under their belts, a dance show on Demand “Get Up and Dance” and a reality show in production shows the world that their talent speaks for itself.
With sold out show in Australia, Germany and Russia the Ranger$ have manage not only to impress their peers, but also taken over the world with their unique style of hip hop. The Ranger$ are just getting started. As their music and love for this culture grows, they too, continue to evolve as three young men with a dream and a passion to take their love for their art of culture and share it with the world.
