Cameron Schmitz is not your average guitar player! None of the stuff you get at the local beer hang to be found here. Instead, think more of a wine kind of vibe. A scheduled performer at The Grape, International Plaza in Tampa, Schmitz will feature 3 distinct flavors, all instrumental and spread out over 3 unique sets. First comes the acoustic/electric and with it, the range of styles from fingerpicked Celtic folk to Mississippi blues (open tunings to extend the range of the Ovation Collectors Series) and into new-age territory plus some classics like Norwegian Wood, Too Many People, Stream and Crash Into Me. Set 2 features the Multiac nylon acoustic/electric bringing Spanish and Baroque pieces peppered with neo-classical and contemporary jazz romps, from Metheny to Steve Morse to Satriani. Finally the Godin LGXT with the piezo to blend deep tones and visiting acid jazz of Wes & Benson, Stern & Scofield, to straight ahead and jazz blues (Coltrane, Ellington, Miles) with some modern and classic rock plus psychedelic offerings (Jimi, Argent, STP, DMB). Sort of taking a trip around the globe in 4 hours time! Cameron is available for wedding ceremony performance (solo, with flute, etc), cocktail hour and reception with his band, The Serious Casuals.
