In the winter of '93 Hilton Valentine and John Steel, original guitarist and drummer of the 60's R&B group The Animals, reformed under the name Animals II. Lead singer Robert Kane had been working with Hilton the previous four years in a local band called The Alligators which experienced some success in the northeast of England.
The birth of Animals II stemmed from The Alligators. Hilton formed an offshoot of The Alligators adding Steve Hutchinson on keyboards. Originally calling themselves "Hilton Valentine's Animals", the band's name soon changed to Animals II when Hilton invited John to join him.
Two more personnel changes bring us to the current line-up with Steve Dawson also on guitar and Martin Bland on bass. This line-up has been together and touring the world since summer of '95.
