Jason Bonham Band
While continuing to polish his drum skills, Jason's father also introduced him to the world of "Motorcross". He excelled in this sport, becoming one of England's top young riders, once missing the British Junior Championship by only one point. Today, Jason is actively involved in the "John Bonham Memorial Motorcycle Camp for Kids". At age 17, Jason's first band, "Air Race" was signed to a recording deal with Atlantic Records by Phil Carson. After the release of their first album, while on tour in Europe, they opened for "Queen", "Def Leppard", "Ted Nugent", "AC DC", and "Meatloaf" just to name a few. Next, Jason played in "Virginia Wolf" whose first album was produced by Roger Taylor of "Queen". This band went on to open for "The Firm", which featured Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers, on their 1986 tour. In 1987, Jason played on Jimmy Page's "Outrider" album. He then went on to record a second album with "Virginia Wolf" and played for Jimmy on the "Outrider" tour. In 1988, Jason played a part in music history, in the first reunion of "Led Zeppelin", at the 40th Anniversary of Atlantic Records. A year later, he released the "Bonham" debut album, "The Disregard of Timekeeping", which produced the hit single "Wait for You". After a lengthy tour, "Bonham" released their second, and last album together, "Mad Hatter". Next, in 1993, Jason recorded with a dozen of the greatest guitar players in Rock and Blues history on Paul Rodgers tribute album, "Muddy Water Blues". Once again Jason played a part in music history, by performing with Paul Rodgers and Slash of "Guns and Roses" at "Woodstock II" in 1994. Jason reunited with two members of his former band, "Bonham", Ian Hatton and John Smithson, along with Marti Frederiksen, to form "Motherland". They released "Peace 4 Me", also in 1994. Jason has now joined forces with John Smithson, Tony Catania, and Charles West, forming "THE JASON BONHAM BAND". Their new release on MJJ/Sony Records, is "In the Name of My Father, The Zepset Live From Electric Lady Land". The new CD captures the band performing an electrifying evening of Zeppelin standards, sure to be a hit with both Led Zeppelin and Jason Bonham Band fans alike. Proceeds from the sale of this CD will be donated to the "John Bonham Memorial Motorcycle Camp for Kids". Jason still enjoys Motorcross racing. He recently received a full endorsement from Kawasaki Motorcycles to help purchase equipment for the MemorialCamp. Over the years, some of Jason's musical influences include; Stewart Copeland, Ritchie Hayward, Jeff Porcaro, Chad Smith and of course, his greatest influence, his father, John Bonham. Jason enjoys listening to a wide variety of music, ranging from U2 to Soundgarden to Nine Inch Nails.
