1981 In November, ABC release their debut single, Tears Are Not Enough, on their own Neutron label. It reaches number nineteen.

1982 The follow-ups - Poison Arrow, The Look Of Love and All Of My Heart are all top ten successes. Their Trevor Horn produced debut long player The Lexicon Of Love reached number one in the album chart. The group embark on an ambitious world tour and release a spy movie called Mantrap.

1983 ABC return as a trio after drummer David Palmer's departure to Yellow Magic Orchestra. That Was Then But This Is Now crashes into the top twenty. A new LP Beauty Stab is released.

1984 Stephen Singleton retires from the band and returns to Sheffield. Fry and White travel America in search of new members. David Yarritu and Fiona Russell-Powell join the group. The single How To Be A Millionaire is released in October.

1985 ABC enjoy a top thirty hit with Be Near Me. The album How To Be A Zillionaire is released. It is their most successful in America.

1987 When Smokey Sings is a top twenty hit in Britain, top five in the States. It is also the band's fourth number 1 U.S. dance hit. The classic ABC sound returns with the Alphabet City long player.

1989 The group combine their songwriting skills and ABC characteristics with an ultra hip House sound. Their fifth album UP is released.

1990 The singles collection, Absolutely, reaches number nine in the album chart. It's their third UK top ten album.

1991 Fry and White release Abracadabra, their first album on Parlophone Records.

1992 Mark White leaves ABC to seek new challenges outside the music business.

1995 Martin Fry records some experimental dance tracks with guitarist Keith Lowndes and Heaven 17-singer Glenn Gregory as the Magic Skulls. He also makes some UK live appearances as a singer.

1997 ABC release a new album entitled Skyscraping. They also embark on their first UK tour in fourteen years.

1998 Mercury reissue the first four ABC albums. ABC join Culture Club and the Human League on a sell-out UK tour.

1999 ABC release a live album entitled The Lexicon Of Live as they head for the next Millennium.

2001 ABC celebrate their 20th anniversary with a greatest hits CD, The Look Of Love, featuring two new tracks. They support pop star Robbie Williams on a massive UK stadium tour. Martin Fry performs on Night Of The Proms and presents a BBC radio show
