Joni Harms
Joni grew up around music and cowboys. "My whole family plays and sings, so I just started getting in on it at an early age," she said. "We also went to a lot of rodeos and I started singing for the cowboys when I was about four. My aunt had a hotel for the cowboys in Molalla, Oregon, and I'd sing I Just Want to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart for a nickel or a quarter to spend at the carnival." The road from Oregon to Nashville is a long one in miles, dedication, and hard work. Joni is a singer/songwriter who understands the business side of the music industry. She worked for a concert promotion company, made yearly trips to Nashville during the Country Music Association's annual festivities, cut demos, and made many contacts with people who believe in her talent. Her music first caught the ears of Jimmy Bowen, who was impressed with Joni's mature and assertive style. She was signed at Universal where her Hometown Girl album was released on the Capital label. Two of the singles, I Need a Wife and Bluer Than His Eyes, reached the top 40 Billboard Chart. Joni Harms is not just an image, she's the real thing. As a former Miss Northwest Rodeo, only one of several such titles she has held, she remains a cowboy's sweetheart. She and her band play 150 to 200 dates per year including rodeos, fairs, conventions, and western markets in the United States and Canada. Joni is very proud of You're My Blanket which reached #2 on the Canadian country charts. On this year's tour, Joni is proud to represent Wrangler, SHE Leather Clothing, Nocona Boots, Nocona Belts and Accessories, Delta Airlines, Ford Automobile Dealerships, and Washburn Guitars. Joni still lives in her hometown of Canby, Oregon, on a ranch that was homesteaded by her great-great grandfather in 1872. Joni loves the land and feels it is perfectly located between Portland and Salem, 100 miles from the coast and 100 miles from the mountains. When Joni is not singing, she spends her time working on the ranch with her dogs, raising Christmas trees and quarter horses. Joni Harms steps forward as a multi-dimensional singer and songwriter.
