The Miracles

Say the word "Miracles" and all kinds of images from the golden era of Motown and the house on West Grand Boulevard in Detroit comes to mind. The Miracles were the first Motown group to break through, bringing Berry Gordy's fledgling Motown Record Company its first gold record for selling a million copies. The song was "Shop Around" and the year was 1960. The group turned out an amazing number of hits from that time to 1972 when lead singer Smokey Robinson opted for a solo career.

Following Robinson's departure, The Miracles - Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore and Ronnie White (by this time the fifth member, Claudette Robinson, had retired from the business) recruited a new lead singer, Billy Griffin and delivered several more hits, most notably "Love Machine", "Do It Baby" and "Don't Cha Love It". Sadly, Ron White passed away following a long illness.

As one of the cornerstones of Motown music, it was Bobby's strong desire to keep The Miracles in the spotlight. The current lineup includes Dave Finley, Tee Turner and lead singer Mark Scott of "Breaking II Electric Boogaloo" fame who continues to wow audiences worldwide.

Rogers, well known in musical history for his voice in Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" and the infamous growl that sent "Love Machine" to the top of the charts, was the co-writer of some of the most memorable Motown songs including The Temptations hit "The Way You Do The Things You Do" and "First I Look At The Purse" by The Contours.

The Miracles television performances include two recent PBS concerts now on video and live performances at such prestigious venues including Constitution Hall, The Reno Hilton and Harrah's; Symphonic engagements with the Jacksonville, Alabama and Grand Rapids symphonies; a Presidential Inaugural Ball for former President Bill Clinton; a USO tour and special events for our United States Air Force in Washington, DC and Langley, Va. and Superbowl XL.

The Miracles music can be heard in television commercials and award-winning films such as "Platoon" and "The Big Chill with their songs "Shop Around", "You Really Got A Hold On Me", "Mickey's Monkey", "Going To A Go Go", "The Love I Saw In You Was Just A Mirage", "I'll Try Something New", "What's So Good About Good-Bye", "I Second That Emotion", "The Tears Of A Clown", "Ooh Baby Baby" and "The Tracks Of My Tears" to name a few.

The Miracles are consummate professionals and cannot be duplicated. The group has achieved some of the highest awards in the music industry. Their sweet sounds are loved throughout the world and with the positive energy of these four gentlemen, celebrating a 50th anniversary - Miracles will continue to happen
