At the age of 19, Urban Mystic, an up-and-coming singer/songwriter/producer, is in the midst of redefining contemporary R&B. His mission will culminate with the release of his debut album, "Ghetto Revelations," in stores November 30, 2004 on SoBe Entertainment/WMG.
Mystic's name reflects the combination of luscious vocals and street flair present on his sultry tracks. He's poised to resurrect the rhythm that is undeniably and conspicuously absent from today's Rhythm & Blues.
Urban Mystic, christened Brandon Williams, is the youngest of four. Born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mystic is the son of a minister and church organist. At a very young age, he realized through introspection that music thrived in the very essence of his soul.
Over the course of a decade, Mystic honed and crafted his vocal range, stage presence, performance skills and haunting style in front of his father's church -- a phenomenal congregation which served as the backbone of his always-supportive family.
At the age of 13, Mystic convinced his parents that he was destined for greatness as a singer. So, he began studying the business and art of music under the watchful eye of his older brother, Christopher.
In the years since first realizing his reason for being, Mystic has added impressive accolades to his artistic resume. In addition to being a talented singer, songwriter, producer and musician, he has appeared in a national SPRITE advertising campaign as well as in 1999's "Ghetto Fabulous," a Sony-distributed independent film produced by Big Baller Records.
Mystic includes his brother Christopher, Al Green, Bobby Womack, KC and the Sunshine Band, K-Ci & JoJo, Usher and Dave Hollister among his most pivotal influences and inspirations.
On "Ghetto Revelations," Urban Mystic has enlisted the help of superstar producers KayGee (Jaheim, Next, Naughty By Nature), Red Spyda (Jadakiss, Twista, Lloyd Banks) and the one-and-only El DeBarge, who also lent his smooth, oh-so-brilliant vocals to the soulful track, "Mystic's Spot."
When asked what he loves most about performing music, Mystic simply states, "I love being able to express myself. When I perform, I forget I'm on stage. I just close my eyes and get in the zone."
If his first single, "Where Were You?," is any indication of Urban Mystic's God-given talent, then this young man is sure to please Neo-Soul fans and old-school R&B aficionados alike for years to come.
As late 2004 melts into early 2005, it is Mystic who will revitalize the urban musical landscape with a soul-force of pure rhythm and power. His truth will inject our new millenium's R&B with a sort of wisdom that 21st Century Soul has been sorely lacking -- until now
