Veteran stage actor, Michael Tucker played Stuart Markowitz on NBC-TV's long running hit series, "L.A. Law." He has recently co-starred with Michael J. Fox in Universal's "For Love or For Money" and with Tracy Ullman in the HBO special "Tracy Ullman Takes on New York."

Born and raised in Baltimore, Michael attended Carnegie Tech Drama School where he performed in more than 40 plays. After graduation, Michael took several acting jobs in theaters around the country. It was at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. that he met his wife, actress Jill Eikenberry.

Michael and Jill moved to New York where he worked extensively in stage productions, including "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and "Measure for Measure," both for Joseph Papp's Shakespeare in the Park. His first leading role was as Dromeo of Syracuse in "Comedy of Errors," and that led immediately to the lead in the Broadway production of "Trelawney of the Wells," opposite Meryl Streep, with Mary Beth Hurt and John Lithgow.

Michael made his television debut in 1976 in the ABC-TV Movie of the Week, "The Quinns," followed by his motion picture debut the following year, appearing with wife, Jill, and his daughter, Alison, in " A Night full of Rain." In 1978, the family appeared together again in " An Unmarried Woman." Later that year, Michael was cast in "The Eyes of Laura Mars," with Faye Dunaway, after which he returned to the stage in "The Goodbye People." During that time, he appeared in the ABC-TV Movie of the Week, "The Vampire," followed by an appearance on "Hill street blues." Soon after, Michael returned to Baltimore to play in Barry Levinson's "Diner," then reprised his role in the big screen version of " The Goodbye People."

In 1984, Michael and Jill played in a two-part episode of "Hill Street Blues." Then in 1985, he won a big part in the PBS Emmy-winning mini-series "Concealed Enemies," before being cast in Woody Allen's "The Purple Rose of Cairo." In 1986, he played in "I'm Not Rappaport" at the American Place Theater, made his debut as a producer with "El Grande De Coca Cola" at the Village Gate, and begun shooting Woody Allen's "radio Days." That same year Michael started work on the pilot for "L.A. Law."

During "L.A.. Law's" initial season, he starred in Barry Levinson's "Tin Men," followed by a co-starring role with his wife in "Assault and Matrimony," an NBC-TV movie. Michael also starred in the Emmy-winning "Day One," a three-hour film for CBS-TV about the development and dropping of the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima. In addition, he and Jill co-starred in "A Family Again" on ABC and "Archie's Wife" on stage in New York and Los Angeles with "Love Letters," before a role in the feature film, "Checking Out."

That same year, Michael received the Good Guys Award from the National Women's Political Caucus in recognition of his efforts on behalf of numerous causes affecting women. Most recently, Michael starred in the NBC-TV movie, "A Town Torn Apart," also with Jill, and this spring he played in Disney's "Mighty Ducks II," with Emilio Estavez.

Although Michael enjoys working in television, he would like to keep his hand in theater and film and hopes to successfully mix all three. He also aspires to produce for television and film. Married 20 years, Michael and Jill live in Brentwood, California with their 12-year old son, Max. Their daughter, Alison, also lives in Los Angeles.
