Raymond Boyce
Raymond was influenced by the melodic strings of the great B.B. King and wanted to play the guitar. But at that time, guitar lessons were not offered in school. So, Raymond wanted the next instrument that would sound a lot like a human voice. While still unable to barely breathe, Raymond asked his mother for a saxophone. Reluctantly, she obliged. Raymond’s asthma became so bad that he began to pray to God for his healing. He felt so strongly that he told God that he would play his saxophone for the glory of God. God heard Raymond’s cry. He was healed and learned to play the saxophone. Raymond and his musically talented sister and brothers often participated in the musical events of the National Church of God in Christ Convocations and surrounding churches. Raymond played his saxophone with many nationally known artists. Upon moving to Atlanta, Raymond played Jazz, R&B, and Gospel in a variety of musical venues. He has performed in many cities around the United States. While he initially played with a group and /or his brothers, he was called to go solo. Raymond has been a Minister of Music and Choir Director. In addition, he has been the featured artist in many churches, theater performances, and community events. Raymond has written and produced several songs and has played with many renowned gospel performers. He also played on a gospel recording for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. God continued to beckon to Raymond. As his trials and testimonies became stronger, he realized that he had been called to complete a work in Christ. Raymond’s daily mission is to minister in song on his saxophone.
