Biography:
The "Essance" for something new was conceptualized shortly after the turn of the century. As the ingredients were brought together mixed well and remixed. The heat of the desire for something authentic gave rise to what is now known as the Essance Project Band. A compilation of 7 accomplished musicians and singers from various backgrounds. The musicians in the band have twenty plus years in the music industry, have collaborated with musicians and writers such as: Neil Simon, Stanley Clarke, Maurice Starr Sonny Williams, Michael Coleman, Grey Tyson (Temptations) Iajza, Chicago’s Own, Essence II Band and V. Holmes Motown Production.
Other band members have studied at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. Some members of the band also have performed at such well-known Chicago venues as the DuSable Museum of African-American History, the House of Blues, the Funky Buddha Lounge and at the annual Taste of Chicago in Grant Park. Others have performed in and traveled to Las Vegas, California and other exciting locales.
The Essance Project Band is on the cutting edge of a musical movement bringing back traditional, soul stirring performance with up-to-date flavor. The group members have deep roots in the traditions of R&B, Oldies (1970’s and 80’s) Classic and Smooth Jazz and Motown Classics and Contemporary Sounds-all delivered with high energy. The Essance Project Band is sure to please the most discerning musical palate and leave it craving more.
